Congratulations to South Leith Parish Church for gaining their first Eco-Congregation Award in January 2010!

South Leith Parish Church have a very committed Green Team and a Youth Links group which has been very effective in raising the awareness in the congregation of environmental matters. They have constructed a list of 10 Eco Commandments, designed a short questionnaire to guage the level of awareness and written a Christmas sketch called "Santa Goes Green". The church has also been responsible for a number of environmental activities for young people in the local community.

In their own church buildings and halls they have put in place a number of "eco procedures". In addition they have had a major project with a girls secondary school in Zambia, spanning the last 12 years. The main aim of the project, which has been a great success was to help the school become self sustaining in food and water supplies.
