Eco-Congregation Scotland News

Birse and Feughside Church

24 November 2009
Congratulations to Birse and Feughside Church on gaining the first Eco-Congregation Award

The caring for creation message has been well integrated into services at Birse and Feughside. The Eco-Congregation programme is actively promoted both within the church through the colourful banners and to the wider community through the church newsletter. There are many further links to the local community through work with the school, local shop and community council. Children are fully involved in many aspects of the eco-congregation work.

On a practical note, a large proportion of the congregation are involved in caring for and increasing the biodiversity of the church garden and there is a range of provision for recycling.

The congregation is also looking at further ways of reducing carbon emissions eg through the assessment of the impacts of the congregations travel.
