Award

Pardovan, Kingscavil and Winchburgh

20 September 2006
Pardovan, Kingscavil and Winchburgh gained Eco-Congregation Awards. Congratulations!

This church in West Lothian showed creative flair in making the link between environmental issues and Christian faith. They produced banners of the seven days of creation and the Sunday School used the story of Noah’s Ark as an opportunity to lead worship with a climate change theme. They have rebuilt the mission hall using recycled materials and to a high standard of energy efficiency, and are developing a biblical garden. Environmental thinking underlies all of church life, for example in decisions about where to hold services, provision of transport, and open air services and activities. Practical community action is demonstrated in support for Fair Trade and the village cleanup.
