Get Involved
There are 233 Eco-Congregation Churches in Scotland. You can see a complete list of them here. To join them you need to register. Registration is easy and free, and gives you access to:
- information through networks, free resource modules, and the newsletter
- support of the wider programme through networks and the co-ordinators
- recognition of the church's environmental work through the award scheme
How to register
1. Complete the "Church Check-up" environmental audit.
This is to help you to identify existing environmental work, and prioritise what you would like to do next. You might find it helpful to gather a 'green group' to work through the check-up including people interested in environmental issues and those involved in church life eg children's work, worship, and building maintenance. You do not need to send us the completed audit: it is an exercise for your own benefit and to help you choose our resource modules.

2. Gain the approval of the church decision-making body
We ask that the kirk session, church meeting, or vestry agrees to join the Eco-Congregation programme to give the programme official status in your congregation.
3. Send us the registration form
The registration form provides us with your details and with confirmation that you have completed the audit and that the church has agreed to become an Eco-Congregation. It also lets you order copies of our free resource modules which you will receive with your registration pack.

We are happy to send you an introduction pack by email or post, containing the church check-up and registration form. Please contact us giving your name, address, and church name if you would like to receive this.
These details are from enquirers from Scotland. Visit the main site if you are from elsewhere.
What next?
When you have registered you will be sent a pack of materials to help you take environmental action. You will also become a member of the regional Eco-Congregation network, if one has been established in your area.
You will also receive, as part of your registration pack, an application form for an Eco-Congregation Award. So now it's over to you to take action in each of the three areas of the programme, and in due course to apply for an award.
