A Rocha UK www.arocha.org A Rocha is a Christian environmental organisation working across five continents, the name coming from the Portuguese for “the Rock,” as the first initiative was a field study centre in Portugal. A Rocha UK helps individuals, groups, churches and communities think about their use of the environment, and develop practical ways to care for people and the planet, both locally and globally. CEL (Christian Ecology Link) www.christian-ecology.org.uk
CEL is a membership organisation that aims to spread awareness of environmental issues through the Church and Christian insights through the green movement. In 2003 CEL launched the "Operation Noah" campaign which aims to avert dangerous climate change (see link below for Operation Noah which now has its own staff).CEL publishes the Green Christian magazine, a News Bulletin and twice yearly Churchlink, a resource leaflet / poster to members on request. It produces resources, a daily prayer guide, runs an online discussion forum and organises events all of which are focused to encourage members in their "green" activities.

Operation Noah exists because God's creation faces the most urgent peril, which, to be averted, requires a rapid and radical transformation of our economy and culture. Operation Noah welcomes all people of faith and none. It encourages Britain and Ireland's churches and governments to lead the required radical transformation that will safeguard the whole of God's creation while encouraging simpler, liveable and supportable lifestyles.

The Mission of JRI is to promote responsible environmental stewardship in accordance with Christian principles and the wise use of science and technology. JRI hosts symposiums and training sessions and publishes a range of material. Together with Christian Rural Concern and Keele University, it runs a Certificate Course in Christian Rural & Environmental Studies.

The Objective of the Arthur Rank Centre is to serve the rural community and its churches. In April 2004 it took over the delivery of Eco-Congregation in England. Another of its projects is The Living Churchyard & Cemetery Project which helps churches to enhance wildlife and its habitat in churchyards and burial grounds through conservation management. A range of materials is available meaning that there is something for everyone - individuals, communities, conservation groups and schools, not forgetting the relatives and friends tending graves.

Eco-Schools is a European environmental award programme for schools, it is run by ENCAMS in the UK. Currently operating in 23 countries throughout Europe the Eco-Schools scheme guides schools through a programme to involve pupils in decision making regarding the environmental management of the school. Schools taking part in Eco-Schools set up a committee to take action forward, and are expected to tackle a range of environmental improvements according to their priorities.

The Energy Saving Scotland advice centre, funded by the Scottish Government, provides free and impartial energy saving advice to householders. They offer a free personalised home energy report, illustrating how you can reduce your energy bill by up to £270 and help fight climate change.
